Mirroring the 1940 Mille Miglia, a BMW 328 Mille Miglia Touring Coupe' emerged as the winner of the 2010 Italian event.
Giuliano Cane' and Lucia Galliani steered the Coupe' through numerous trials, over 1000 miles, and never had a single technical hitch.
Enzo Ciravolo and Maria Leitner came in third, also driving a BMW, a series-production BMW 328. This third place finish also mirrors the 1940 event, in which a BMW also finished third.
Both BMW's made their way on their own from Munich, Germany to Brescia, Italy and not on the back of a transporter.
The teams also faced tough weather during the race, with temperatures ranging from near 80 degrees on the Adriatic to almost freezing on Monte Terminillo. Karl Baumer, Director of BMW Classic, commented, "The trials and tribulations are quickly forgotten once all the participants - teams and cars - have made it safely across the finish line...and our great result is the icing on the cake."
