TARGA TROPHY AND SOCAL EURO CARNIVAL SUCCESS

Jul 6, 2010

Two weekends ago, the Targa Trophy Triple Crown Series kicked off in Los Angeles in conjunction with the Euro Carnival, formerly know as the SoCal Euro GTG. For those unfamiliar with Targa Trophy, it's a West Coast rally resembling Gumball and Bull Run except with a technical twist and a larger diversity of cars.

Participants have to make certain checkpoints and finish the course at a specific time and mileage. So this year's first rally started from the Hollywood hotel and ended in San Diego. In between was a seven-hour course filled with some of Southern California's best looking and performing automobiles.

This year, Euro Carnival took place at the same time of the start of the rally at the W Hollywood hotel. 600+ Euros and 1000+ attendees were on hand to cheer on the 73 competing teams. While there was everything from exotics to M3s, domestics and JDM cars, Radoslav Kalla in his Lamborghini Gallardo Spyder won the first prize. Kalla's team win by accumulating the most points throughout the event, making all the checkpoints and staying closest to the predetermined Targa Trophy times and mileage. His prizes include a custom black diamond Targa Trophy pendant worth $6,000, travel packages, automotive gift certificates and even a ticket to the Playboy Mansion. "Our first event of 2010 was an enormous success," says Jason Overell, founder of Targa Trophy. "A record number of cars started the event at W Hollywood and traversed a challenging course that took them through all types of scenery that only Southern California can offer. Look out for another course that promises to be equally challenging in our Bay Area event in August."

Targa Trophy continues its 2010 Triple Crown Series August 27-28, 2010 in San Francisco's Bay Area with the starting line at the W San Francisco and finishing at the W Silicon Valley. The finale event will be a desert challenge on October 15-16, 2010. For more information visit www.targatrophy.com.

Created exclusively for Japan, the model gets no powertrain upgrades but looks fantastic enough that we don’t really care.
