German BMW specialist G-Power previously built its BMW M5-based Hurricane RS, which was powered by a twin-supercharged engine with 750hp. This car set a record for the 'world's fastest sedan' at 367.4km/h (228.2mph) in early 2010.

More recently, G-Power has done it again, this time at 372.1km/h (231mph) with its evolutionary 800hp Hurricane RR.

For the test, the G-Power engineers changed the standard 20" G-Power forged wheels to 19". The wheels were fitted with Michelin Pilot Sport tires that were certified for top speeds of more than 370km/h.

To achieve the extreme performance, the twin supercharger system on the M5's V10 was redesigned. The two ASA T1-313 superchargers were replaced by larger ASA T1-316 units. They are both belt-driven to provide each cylinder bank with compressed air.

The inner workings of the 10-cylinder, four-valve engine are optimized by Mahle forged pistons plus uprated connecting rods and piston pins.

Along with new engine software, the V10 develops 800hp available between 7500 and 8000rpm. The engine delivers its peak of torque of 590 lb-ft at 5000rpm.

The Hurricane RR was ready to go. After just a few laps the top speed of 372,1km/h was a new world record.

The G-Power Hurricane RR has acceleration numbers of just 4.35 seconds from zero to 62mph, 9.5 seconds up to 124mph and 25.8 seconds up to 186mph, making the two-ton sedan a class leader.

The G-Power technology is available for all current M5 and M6 models. The G-Power SK III twin-supercharger conversion with 750hp starts at 56000 Euros ($71500).

In addition, the Hurricane RR is equipped with the G-Power "Highline" body kit, designed to provide more air flow to the engine. It consists of front and rear spoilers, doors panels and rear spoiler.

Fitted to the special G-Power forged wheels, technology partner Michelin provides high-performance Pilot Sport tires in 255/35 ZR19 front and 305/30 ZR19 rear sizes. For everyday use the Hurricane RR runs on 20" Silverstone Clubsport wheels with 245/35 ZR20 and 285/30 ZR20 tires.

The Hurricane RR also gets a G-Power high-performance brake system and height-adjustable G-Power RS coilover suspension that is adjustable for both compression and rebound in nine settings.

The interior features a speedometer reading up to 400km/h, clear-coated carbon-fiber panels for the dashboard, center console and door panels. An ergonomically shaped G-Power sports steering wheel with perforated Kjerba Nappa leather completes this package.

The G-Power Hurricane RR can be ordered as a complete car starting at 251,100 Euros ($320,500). Any existing M5 can also be equipped with the G-Power components.
