NITTO LAUNCHES MOBILE-DEVICE ENABLED WEBSITE

Aug 3, 2010

Cypress, Calif., August 2, 2010 – Nitto Tire USA Inc., announces the launch of its first website specifically designed for mobile devices. The site includes many of the features found on Nitto’s product site, NittoTire.com, and is specifically formatted for smartphone devices. The site is available at Mobile.NittoTire.com.

The primary goals for the site were to present mobile-optimized content and to make the site compatible with many mobile devices and operating systems. The browser size, images and data were formatted to load quickly on mobile devices. The site’s target platforms include the Apple iPhone, Google Android, RIM Blackberry, and Windows Mobile.

The mobile site contains similar functionalities as its computer-based counterpart. Users can experience a condensed version of Nitto's newly launched interactive tire selector (www.NittoTire.com/TireSelector) to find products by vehicle year/make/model, as well as by specific tire sizes. Users can then learn more about the products that match their search on dedicated product pages. These pages include more in-depth information, such as fitment specifications, load and speed rating, size listings, and OE/plus-size options.

An added bonus to the site is the multimedia page where the users can view many of Nitto's educational and motorsports videos right on their handheld devices.

When asked why Nitto developed a mobile-specific version of the site, the company cited the increasing importance of mobile communication channels. "Smart phones and cell phones are becoming increasingly more powerful," said Stephen Leu, Nitto's marketing research specialist. "Consumers are increasingly using mobile phones for education and research prior to making a purchase. The increasing prominence of mobile ad platforms supports this trend." Nitto aims to develop more sophisticated site features as mobile technology continues to advance.
