Under the working name "Cajun", the new efficient and sporty model will expand the company’s most successful segment worldwide, which is currently led by the Cayenne sports SUV.

It is hoped the new Cajun will make a positive impact on the company. As a result, the new car will likely be based on the Audi Q5 model but it will have to increase the company’s current sales numbers significantly.

As an entry model, it’s hoped the Porsche Cajun will attract new and younger customers to the premium brand, along with the Boxster, which is currently the market leader in the two-seater, mid-size sports car segment.

Coming to market in three years time, there’s talk of three- and five-door derivatives, as well as existing Audi engines including a turbo-diesel plus a high-performance Porsche V6 turbo.
