Volkswagen travelled to the largest GTI Meet in the world at Worthersee, Austria, with an entire fleet of new models and concept cars. After revealing the new VW Golf GTI Edition 35 in a world debut, the company unveiled a Golf R Cabriolet concept car with 270hp and a top speed of 155mph.
Closely related to the production version of the Golf R, the designers and engineers at Volkswagen R GmbH have created the fastest open-top Golf ever.
Like the hard-top Golf R, the cabriolet was lowered 25mm on sport suspension. It was also fitted with a 17-inch brake system and blue calipers with R logos. The concept sits on 19-inch "Talladega" wheels with 235-width tires.
Naturally, the Golf R Cabriolet Concept also has a sporty interior. The concept car boasts Motorsport seats covered in two-tone dark-blue carbon leather and "Pure Grey" Nappa leather with contrasting piping. The back of the seats has been painted piano black.
Furthermore, carbon-fiber accents are used, along with sand-blasted aluminum door sill plates with black piano inlays to reinforce the car's special nature.
