To coincide with the premiere of the German Touring Car Masters (DTM) in Munich on 16/17 July, the BMW Welt exhibition area held a very special highlight. On display was the new BMW M3 DTM concept car that made its debut to an audience of race fans ahead of BMW’s return to the DTM touring car series in 2012.
The Concept was the culmination of a race-themed week at the Welt, which saw the impressive interior turned in at a race track from 11-18 July. The track told the story of BMW Motorsport’s involvement in touring car racing. Lined up as if one a starting grid were some of BMW’s legendary touring cars, such as the BMW 635 CSi, Andy Warhol’s BMW M1 Art Car, an M3 GTR and the M3 GT2.
