Kimi Räikkönen Drives Peugeot 908 Racecar - Web Exclusive

In an extremely brief announcement, Peugeot has revealed that the 2007 F1 World Champion and Peugeot World Rally driver Kimi Räikkönen got behind the wheel of one of its 908 Le Mans racecars.

Driving at the Aragon circuit in Spain, the driver completed 35 laps on August 24th 2011. “I enjoyed the test with Peugeot. The 908 is a really fun car to drive,” Kimi is reported to have said.

Olivier Quesnel, Peugeot Sport Director, gave a little more detail: “The test session was planned a long time ago in order to prepare the car for the rest of the season. It would also allow Kimi to discover the 908 but as yet, nothing has been scheduled or planned for the future.

Towards the end of the morning session, the Finn took part in a drive Along with regular 908 drivers Franck Montagny, Stéphane Sarrazin, Simon Pagenaud and Alexander Wurz. Kimi covered a series of 35 laps on a circuit he’s never driven on.

“Kimi arrived yesterday evening in order to meet up with the team, prepare his seat and set up his driving position,” explained Pascal Dimitri, Peugeot Sport Team Manager. “He adapted very quickly to the car and gave us valuable technical feedback. It is always interesting to get input from a driver such as Kimi.”
