Said to be close to the final production design, the concept is supposed to reveal the look of Skoda's upcoming model range for the VW-owned Czech carmaker.
The new compact five-door vehicle will be launched in Europe, Russia and China but won't be coming to the USA.
As a result of its global reach, the compact 'liftback' model will feature specific modifications to suit each region, with the Indian market getting its own sedan version as well.
As with all of VW's ambitious global expansion plans, the new car is intended to help Skoda increase its sales to 1.5 million vehicles by 2018. The world premiere in Frankfurt is the start of the company's plans to release a new vehicle every six months over the next two or three years, according to a spokesman.
