2012 VW Beetle Arrives at Dealerships - Web Exclusive

Hundreds of "Oprah Winfrey Show” fans are among the first to own the all-new Beetle as part of "Ultimate Favorite Things” 2010 giveaway.

Oct 13, 2011

Volkswagen dealerships nationwide welcomed the official arrival of the all-new 2012 Beetle. Some of the first recipients were Oprah’s fans, who were the first to own the re-designed Beetle, during the show’s two "Ultimate Favorite Things” giveaways last year.

President and CEO of Volkswagen of America, Jonathan Browning, personally handed keys to the 21 recipients of the new cars.

When Winfrey revealed the design silhouette of the new 2012 Volkswagen Beetle she informed the new owners that they would be receiving the cars on November 22, 2010, she also said, "This is one powerful, sophisticated, sexy Beetle... All of you in this audience will be the first people in the world to own one when it makes its debut next year!”

The ecstatic recipients had the opportunity to choose the color of their all-new 2.5L Beetle six-speed automatic from a variety of colors.

The new 2012 Beetle is initially available with a 2.5L five-cylinder engine, with a starting MSRP of $18995. The 2.0TSI turbo engine has a starting price of $23395. The all-new Beetle has been redesigned for the second time in its history. It features a lower stance, which is wider for better handling and increased interior space. Additionally, the Beetle presents Bluetooth technology, slide and tilt panoramic sunroof, Fender premium audio system and keyless access with push-button start.
