2012 Pirelli World Challenge Schedule Announced - Web Exclusive

The schedule for the 2012 SCCA Pirelli World Challenge Championships has been announced, including an eighth venue that will complete the season that starts on March 23-25 on the Streets of St Petersburg, FL.

This is the third year the Pirelli World Challenge will begin in Florida with a doubleheader weekend as part of the Honda Grand Prix of St Petersburg IZOD IndyCar event.

The 2012 season marks the 23rd consecutive year of the production-based sports cars series and sees the introduction of the new Touring Car B-Spec (TCB) class. It will run at three of the eight event weekends (Miller, Mosport and Infineon) for a total of nine races. During those three event weekends, Touring Car (TC) and Touring Car B-Spec will run separate races from the GT and GTS fields. In 2012, GT and GTS classes will compete in a total of 12 races, Touring Car in 14.

Sanctioned by SCCA Pro Racing, Pirelli World Challenge appears at North America's premier road and temporary street courses. For more information about the series, visit www.world-challenge.com.
