The new VW Beetle has been grabbing headlines with its edgy new profile, making it easy to perhaps overlook some of the finer details of this new model. For example, it boasts an audio system branded by guitar and amplifier specialist Fender.
The Fender sound engineers had developed the sound system exclusively for Volkswagen, which will now be offered worldwide following the launch of the Beetle.
The Beetle Fender system uses a 400-watt, ten-channel amplifier to deliver power to four tweeters with neodymium magnets and fabric domes. There are also two drivers with dual voice coils and two with single coils. Finally, there’s a subwoofer enclosed in a bass box located in the trunk.
Customers choosing the premium Fender system in the Beetle also get three-color interior lighting adjustment plus chrome accents around the loudspeaker grilles with Fender logos on the mirror triangles and the bass box.
CNET.com named the Beetle’s Fender audio system the “best-sounding car stereo” of the 2011. "The system’s excellent sound and its unbeatable price made the premium product this year’s winner," explained the editors of CNET.
