Tough doesn’t begin to describe the way the Global Rallycross Championship has been treating all of its drivers. Brian Deegan, fresh off his 2012 X Games Bronze Medal, battled his way throughout the day to secure third place at the New Hampshire Motor Speedway. This marks Deegan’s third consecutive podium finish in the GRC 2012 season.

Deegan found himself lined up next to Ken Block during Heat 2 and successfully pushed passed him to secure a spot on the front line of the finals. The green flag dropped in the finals and Deegan ended up behind Tanner Foust and Travis Pastrana. Taking a huge gamble on the Joker Lap, Deegan ended up getting a bit too close with another car, allowing Pastrana to open up the gap. Deegan would then continue the race battling to hold onto third ultimately claiming bronze at the checkered flag.

"This was a good race, I didn’t drive my best but I know what I need to do to improve for next race. I hit the joker in the middle of the race, taking a big risk, and came out battling two of the drivers in the back. Once I got past them, Travis was too far gone and I ended up in third,” stated Deegan.

Deegan is currently ranked third in the overall points championship and is also a top contendor for the bonus Discount Tire Award – a $25,000 purse to the driver with the most points during the final three races.

The next Global Rallycross Championship is set to take place at the Las Vegas Motor Speedway in mid-September.
