Another potentially awesome Ford we won’t see here, but that doesn’t make it any less impressive.
The all-new EcoSport SUV will be revealed tomorrow at the Paris Motor Show. It combines the agile, utilitarian nature of a small SUV with the affordability and efficiency of a small car.
It’s powered by Fords award-winning 1.0-liter EcoBoost gas engine and will line up alongside the all-new Kuga and later Ford Edge.
“Ford EcoSport combines the value, quality and fuel efficiency of Fiesta, with the exciting look and feel of a modern SUV,” said Nick Collins, Ford’s global B car vehicle line director. “Its stylish design should prove a tempting addition for European customers to Ford’s B segment range, which already includes the innovative B-MAX compact multi-activity vehicle and the new Fiesta.”
What else is cool about this little thing? It’s the first Ford to be developed entires in South America and was launched in Brazil this month. The first EcoSport was introduced there in 2003, and has since sold more than 700,000 units. The new model will also be released in India and China in 2013, along with its delivery for European customers within 18 months.
The EcoSport features a large front grille seen on all the new models, detailed headlights and cladding on the side sills and bumpers. Of course it will be equipped with Ford SYNC as well.
The EcoSport should be a great addition to the Ford lineup, especially judging by its initial success.
