Reigning Time Attack Champion Goes Under the Knife

Current Super Lap Battle and Global Time Attack champion FXMD shocked attendees at this year's SEMA show with their NSX hunkered down at the Borg Warner booth. Team principle Ken Namimatsu sat down with us during the show to offer some insight into some major changes made on the NSX over the past season, with one goal in mind. Breaking their previous track record for the third time in a row.

Ken Namimatsu:

“This year, we focused on the vehicles overall CG which included a more efficient aero package, redistribution of weight, a more efficient Borg Warner turbo system, and tackled heat management.

The aero package might look a lot tamer than previous years but there’s a good reason why we went with this setup. We consulted Simon McBeath for a new aero package which included a dual element wing and rear diffuser. Autokonexion was commissioned to develop a front clip and body kit. We pulled an additional 40 to 50 pounds of weight from the car while also fabricating a full flat belly pan in carbon composite. Our new graphics livery was executed by Source One Automotive/High Octane Graphics.

For engine modifications, we went with a full dry sump system, lowered the motor and transmission by one full-inch, relocated the intercooler from top mount to behind driver where OEM fuel cell used to sit (fuel cell now located to front of car). The engine was completely rewired with a Milspec harness.

To keep the horsepower to the ground, we are using RSV wheels in 18x11 inch front and 18x 13 inch rear wrapped in 295/30-18 front and 345 /30-18 Hoosier A6 D.O.T compound tires.”
