New Solar Hydrogen Station - Shakedown

Apr 28, 2010

If you're driving a fuel cell vehicle like the FCX-Clarity, you may have wondered, "what do I do when my car runs out of juice and I'm too lazy to go out to refuel?" The Los Angeles Center of Honda R&D America has the answer you've been waiting for, with the installation of a next generation solar hydrogen station prototype at their Torrance location.

Though not exactly ready to be marketed to the general public, Honda intends this to become a home refueling appliance in the near future. The solar hydrogen station is a fraction of the size of existing systems, and produces enough hydrogen during an eight-hour overnight fill for daily commuting-up to 10,000 miles per year. Now if only Honda would release a home based gas station, we'd never have to get out of our cars at all.
