In a strange turn of events in weeks leading up to press time, a Mitsubishi Motor Company (MMC) head of global product development announced that the throwing-star-branded automaker would, in fact, not be making the Lancer EVO past its 10th generation, as the company plans to spend the next few years focusing instead on electric vehicle development. But then, when the EVO enthusiast community went up in arms about the news, President and Global Chief Executive Osamu Masuko publicly vowed that the EVO would remain in production, but that MMC may “find a different direction for the Lancer Evolution model to evolve,” and that “the new direction, the technologies involved, and corresponding products will be disclosed in due course.” Gas/electric EVO?
