Lexus Progressive Luxury Concept Teased

Tokyo-bound concept hints at future LS.

At the upcoming Tokyo motor show, Lexus will reveal a new concept that likely previews the next-generation LS flagship sedan.

We know very little about the Lexus Progressive Luxury Concept from the single teaser image that the automaker released today. But we can already see that the model adopts narrow headlights and other bold styling elements. Expect a future Lexus LS to come with an updated spindle grille to fall in line with the rest of the lineup.

The Lexus LS is in serious need of an update, considering the current fourth-gen model has been around since the 2007 model year. During the first nine months of this year, only 5,270 units were sold, down more than 10 percent from the same time period a year ago.

Previously, we've heard that Lexus was planning an LS for a Tokyo debut to coincide with the 25th anniversary of the original Lexus LS400 sedan. Past rumors suggested that a new Lexus LS will feature a V-8 or V-8 hybrid system. We've also heard that Lexus was plotting a second flagship to complement the LS, although that model might be an SUV.

Lexus will present the new concept vehicle during a presentation at the Tokyo motor show on October 28.
