As we expected, all signs point to Mercedes-AMG bringing out a higher-spec GT in the near future. In two new teaser videos, we catch our first glimpse of the upcoming Mercedes-AMG GT R.
Mercedes has released a video called "The Beast of the Green Hell," showing a night watchman as he encounters a pair of curious green skid marks on the Nrburgring. "An elusive beast is on the prowl at the Nrburgring. Stay tuned for more updates. #BeastOfTheGreenHell," Mercedes captions the video.
A second teaser video from Mercedes gives us our first real look at the supercar. Along with its alluring green paint job, the model features an ultra-aggressive rear spoiler, special GT R and "V8 biturbo" badging, and yellow stitching inside the cabin.
We reported late last year that a hotter version of the existing Mercedes-AMG GT S was in the works. It will be significantly more potent than its 503-hp sibling, but should pack the same 4.0-liter twin-turbo V-8. Some goodies include four-wheel steering and industry-first adjustable spool valve shocks. Also look for large rear tires, and as indicated by the teaser, active aerodynamic features.
According to the second teaser, we'll see the GT R in all its glory on June 24. We expect it to debut at the Goodwood Festival of Speed.
