Owning an early R32, R33 or R34 is the stuff of dreams, but it's becoming a nightmare for some unfortunate owners who are waking up to the Feds armed with a warrant and a tow truck.
Back in the day, Motorex was the only pipeline to the ultimate in JDM hotness. But at $80,000 a pop, Godzilla was an expensive date. Motorex stopped its importation efforts in 2005.
The vacuum created by Motorex's departure was soon filled by Kaizo. Apparently, the import company used a loophole regarding what constitutes a "kit car" and delivered its vehicles as specially built GT-R chassis that the end customer would drop a RB powertrain into. These exploits have earned the ire of an alphabet soup of law enforcement entities; the EPA, DOT, FBI, DOJ, CARB, and probably the BBB, NADA and KBB have all pulled the pin on this hurtful grenade.
The Kaizo offices were raided and tensions soared as visions of Storm Troopers replete with flash-bang grenades, body armor, laser guns and light sabers haunt current Kaizo customers. The fears are not unfounded as reports indicate six Skyline GT-Rs have been unceremoniously repo'd by the government. Scary.
