A limited-edition run of 20 Mugen Civic Type-Rs will be produced based on "overwhelming" interest across the pond.
A K20A is at the heart of the matter. The 2.0-liter i-VTEC powerplant reaps the benefits of Mugen's time in Formula 1 and GT racing, as well as hundreds of development hours on its world-class engine dyno. New camshafts, a modified intake, high-compression pistons, a custom stainless exhaust system and a Mugen airbox increase power by 20 percent to 240PS and boost torque by 10 percent throughout the rev range. Of course, the suspension, exterior and interior are enhanced as well.
You gotta pay to play. This dance costs £38,599 or $57,823 U.S. dollars. It includes "an unparalleled purchasing experience," which involves direct contact with Mugen engineers throughout the car's build and even ECU mapping adjusted to suit specific customer tastes or driving style. But $58K for a Civic? Yikes.
