Rhys Millen has a winner on his hands. The crew at Rhys Millen Racing has been working over a ’12 Hyundai Veloster, arming the hot hatch for the cruelty that is U.S. Rallycross competition.
The production Veloster body and chassis were prepped for warfare by stitch-welding key body/chassis points and adding high-tech carbon-Kevlar body parts wherever possible. These efforts have dropped the Hyundai to 2,656 lbs.
Power output has been addressed with an HKS ball-bearing turbo upgrade and a number of additional power, tuning and safety mods. A battle-tested X-Trac 6-speed sequential transmission will be put to the test.
