Subaru closed the gap on Toyota by unveiling its first FT-86-derived concept at Geneva. Subaru’s RWD Sports Car concept provides clues to what the automaker has in mind for its version of the FT-86. The concept is a bit sketchy, fore sure — there are spy shots floating around with more intimate body-cladding details — but we were glad to see the car get out of the gate. Subaru was quick to point out how low in the chassis the Boxer engine sits, and the company also quoted its weight to be in the Mazda Miata range.
Could it be a Subaru/Toyota drag race to production? Things will be clearer at the Tokyo Motor Show in October, where both automakers are expected to show their hands.
