Kia, Hyundai and Subaru have been bright spots in a dim economic landscape. Kia, especially, has unleashed engaging designs and improved mechanicals to capture the attention of American buyers. The Korean automaker is using the Frankfurt Motor Show to blaze a trail into uncharted territory: the RWD segment.

The Sports Sedan Concept features a toned-down version of the company’s signature grille work, a seductive silhouette and a trick suicide door arrangement. We’re sure many of these styling cues will be dropped or tweaked prior to production — if the concept gets the nod — but we love the direction Kia is heading. May we suggest the 2.0-liter turbo engine from the Optima?
