We’re not sure which box on the order form to check, but Nissan is offering competition-ready Z-cars built by Nissan Motorsports. The Nissan 370Z Nismo RC starts as a normal street-legal Z, but Nismo puts the car on a significant diet, dropping it to 2,954 lbs, adds a FIA-approved rollcage, other safety gear (including a fire-extinguishing system), the prerequisite racing seat and numerous Nismo power parts. The RC is focused on International FIA GT4 and World Challenge GTS class specifications, but with some tweaking it can also qualify for Grand Am Continental Tire Challenge GS class competition. Output is 355 hp, but we expect mods can be made to the VQ37VHR engine to suit sanctioning body regulations.
Some of the headlining components on the 370Z RC include a Nismo-flashed ECU, Nismo race-spec exhaust system, a major clutch pack upgrade, hose upgrades and heavy cooling capacity improvements for engine oil, transmission fluid and rear differential. Inside, a six-point racing harness, Sparco racing steering wheel and a trick carbon-fiber switch panel add that race car aura to the stripped-out interior.
