If there seems to be a fair bit of buzz surrounding the newest sports coupe from Scion, it’s for good reason. The budget minded sport compact performance market has had a gaping hole for a few years; the lack of a small, nimble, and most importantly CHEAP rear wheel drive 2 seater has caused many enthusiasts to feel stranded, waiting for salvation. If you are one of these people, we are happy to report that the rescue ship has finally arrived, and it’s gonna cost you under $25,000 to get on board.
The FR-S is offered with various levels of trims and options, the details of which we’ll spare from this post. The most important specification of the new kid on the block is it’s starting price of $24,930 (MSRP) for a manual transmission. Automatic cars with a 6-speed paddle shifting gearbox start slightly higher at $26,030. You may have noticed that there have in fact been other reports of rumored prices, even here on our own site, but these are the final numbers folks. No more guessing to be done, it’s official.
Although this does make the FR-S the most expensive Scion to date, we feel the price points are fair and appropriate for the current economic climate, as well as the legitimately good performance you get straight out of the box with the car.
