Discount Tire, America’s largest tire and wheel retailer, launches the first Discount Tire-America’s Tire Cup competition as the inaugural Global RallyCross (GRC) season begins.

All GRC drivers racing during the 2012 season are eligible to compete in the Discount Tire-America’s Tire Cup three-race competition. The winning driver earns a $25,000 cash prize, which will be awarded along with the cup trophy at the GRC season finale at Las Vegas Motor Speedway on Sept. 29.

Discount Tire-America’s Tire Cup designated races are at Texas Motor Speedway (June 9), New Hampshire Motor Speedway (July 14) and Las Vegas Motor Speedway (Sept. 29). GRC drivers earn points for each race based on their finishing result. The driver with the highest aggregate score from all three races wins the Discount Tire-America’s Tire Cup competition and cash prize.

Race fans can follow the action on GRC’s and Discount Tire’s social media channels including Facebook and Twitter. During the season, Travis Pastrana and many of motorsports brightest stars will also chime in on the Discount Tire-America’s Tire Cup competition.

Discount Tire is a presenting sponsor for the Pastrana Racing/Red Bull/Discount Tire backed Dodge Dart in the 2012 Global RallyCross Championship.

“Discount Tire is supporting Global RallyCross in a big way and the Cup competition can only increase the intensity and excitement for the fans,” said Pastrana. “The racing action in the GRC season finale will be awesome as every driver will be running for the Cup prize.”
