Subaru WRX concept debuts at New York auto show

The New York auto show welcomed the all-new Subaru WRX concept, hinting at the next generation of the WRX. Style changes towards a new generation come into play as well as hints at the classic WRX design.

A bold and muscular design emphasizes the turbocharged power and AWD grip of the new WRX. The new look is accented with a carbon-fiber roof, which results in weight reduction. The concept is lower, sleeker and wider than past WRX models with significant design changes.

The new three dimensional mesh pattern grille design sets off the classic WRX hood scoop, with a pronounced powerbulge that provides clearance for the new turbocharged engine and intercooler. Classic hawk-eye headlights bring back more classic Subaru details while the boldly flared wheel arches (filled with BBS 'RI-D' one piece forged duralumin wheels) emphasize the AWD system. The trunk brings more of the sporty nature of the WRX with a curved lid that also acts as a spoiler.

New 'WR Blue Pearl III' paint is featured on the concept as well as fluorescent yellow brake calipers and WRX badging modernizing the classic WRX look.
