Formula Drift 2013 Season opener

The tenth season of Formula Drift, presented by GoPro kicked off last weekend on the streets of Long Beach. Daijiro Yoshihara driving the America's Tire/ Falken Tire Nissan S13 claimed victory and now leads in the Championship points.

Opening to a sold out crowd, fans not only watched the race but were also treated to a vendor village, Slammed Society car show, a display of cars from Targa Trophy and a skateboard demo from Action Sports Kids Foundation of Long Beach.

All three podium finishing racers are veterans of the series having ten years-experience. Chris Forsberg (the 2009 champ) took third place driving the NOS Energy Drink/ Hankook Nissan 370Z. The second place finisher was Vaughn Gittin Jr. driving the Monter Energy/ Falken Tire Ford Mustang.

The top five finishers are listed below:

1. Yoshihara, Daijiro 112 points
2. Gittin Jr., Vaughn 92 points
3. Forsberg, Chris 79 points
4. DeNofa, Chealsea 75 points
5. McNamara, Darren 64 points
