Riding on Air

Getting a car's proper stance is a difficult thing to do. There are many factors to consider when looking for the ideal ride height. Wheel and tire sizes, suspension geometry, and fender clearance are just a few of the things that have to be just right in order for a car to roll down the street looking just right.

Since the KIA Optima Hybrid had very few suspension options available from the aftermarket, it was decided that a custom air suspensionsetup would be the ideal way to go for a build of this nature.

Setting up a car with air suspension is no easy task but once it's in place the adjustability it offers is worth every ounce of effort. With static suspension, like coilovers ride height can be adjusted but it's incredibly time consuming so if you want your car to sit low at a show but have a normal ride height for the drive home then it makes sense to go with air suspension.

Installation on the KIA Optima Hybrid took a lot of custom work but if it were easy then everyone would be doing it. A set of custom rear suspension uprights had to be made in order to situate the bag properly butonce they were in then all that was left was to run the air lines and hook up the compressor while up front, Air Runner supplied an already custom fabricated front air bag strut assembly that would bolt in.

A fresh set of DC5S Bavaria wheels wrapped in Nitto rubber were chosen for the Superhero car but they too needed the special touch from Mike Vu and his team to make them fit the Superman theme.

Some painstaking masking and painting of the rims took place and the result is a wheel that not only matches the rest of the car but stands out on its own.

We're almost done wrapping up the Superman themed KIA Optima hybrid! For other builds and information about the KIA Justice League check out: Link text....http://www.builtforjustice.com/
