Some of the world's fastest cars are set to battle it out at this year's Cholmondeley Pageant of Power (June 14-16). Billed as the UK's biggest celebration of speed, a number of significant automobiles will take part in some intense on-track action attempting to beat course speed records. Now in its sixth year, the Pageant takes place at the Cholmondeley Estate in Cheshire.
The highlight of the weekend is the battle that will play out in the Supercar class, where cars like the Lamborghini Gallardo LP570-4 Superleggera Edizione Tecnica, Lexus LFA, and McLaren 12C and more will take to Cholmondeley's 1.2-mile circuit in an effort to make the top speed charts. Other amazing rides include two versions of Bugatti's famed hypercar, the Veyron Super Sport (1,184 bhp and top speed of 268 mph) and Veyron Grand Sport Vitesse (fastest convertible produced with a top speed of 254 mph).
A few lightweight 'giant-slaying' sports cars will also take to the track in hopes of topping some speed records, including the Ariel Atom 3.5, Radical SR8 RX, BAC Mono, and the Caterham SP/300.R, which set the fastest lap around the circuit in 2012 at 61.89-seconds.
Other cars that will try their hand at the track are the Bentley Continental Supersports Convertible (2011 ice speed record car at 205.5 mph), Porsche 911 Carrera 4S, Bentley Continental GT Speed, Jaguar F- Type, Noble M600 and Morgan Aero Supersports.
Fast cars are not the only thing celebrated at Cholmondeley 2013, as the 100-year anniversary of Aston Martin and 50 years of Lamborghini will also feature prominently in the weekend's festivities. The Aston Martin Vanquish and Lamborghini Aventador LP700-4 roadster (making its UK debut) will be the primary models displayed among what are expected to be hundreds of others between the two brands.
Sounds like quite an event to us. If you happen to be in the England at the time, tickets are on sale until the 13th of June (the day before the event) here: www.cpop.co.uk
