Honda Going Big for 2013 Pikes Peak Hill Climb

Partnering Sponsor Bringing Cars, Motorcycles, ATVs -- Even Generators

In past years, Honda has participated in the Pikes Peak International Hill Climb on a small scale. But this year it's going all in for the 2013 event. Honda is fielding 10 vehicles in nine race classes -- the first manufacturer to do this at a single Pikes Peak event.

Both Honda and Acura-branded products will be charging up the mountain, including cars, motorcycles, and even ATVs. Simon Pagenaud (Honda Sam Schmidt Motorsports IndyCar driver) will serve as the brand's marquee professional race car driver, joining Honda North America associates and other professionals who will pilot vehicles developed under the banner of Honda Performance Development (HPD) and Team-Honda Research (THR).

But the participation doesn't end there. Honda is also a partnering sponsor for the 2013 Hill Climb, marking the first time the company has sponsored the event. And as if Honda doesn't already have their hands in just about every part of the event, they will even be supplying Honda generators which will provide electricity for the pits and staging areas.

Below is the list of 2013 Honda Pikes Peak entries by car, class, driver and Honda division, respectively:

  • Acura NSX - 1st gen. [Pikes Peak Open] (James Robinson) Honda R&D
  • Acura TL SH-AWD [Time Attack] (Brian Shanfeld) Honda R&D
  • Honda CR-Z hybrid coupe [Exhibition] (Sage Marie) Honda North America
  • Honda Fit EV [EV] (Roy Richards) Honda R&D
  • Honda CRF250R [250] (Nick Robinson) Honda R&D
  • Honda CRF250R [250] (Dane Marsack) Honda R&D
  • Honda CRF450R [450] (Jeff Tigert) American Honda
  • Honda CBR1000RR [Exhibition] (Alex Moreno) Honda R&D
  • Honda CBR600RR [750SS] (Erik Dunshee) Honda R&D
  • Honda TRX450 [450 ATV] (Keith Steidl) Honda R&D
The 2013 Pikes Peak International Hill Climb is scheduled for June in Colorado Springs, Colorado. For more info check out:
