From its beginnings a decade ago as Toyota's new youth-oriented brand, Scion has often employed untraditional marketing methods to reach out to the hipster set. Teaming up with edgy music artists has been one of the outlets Scion has used to reach that audience. So it makes sense that in celebration of its 10th-year on the market that Scion is releasing a 10-track compilation album featuring various artists called the Scion 10 Series Music Release.
The compilation features artists that Scion has worked with in the past, in addition to some fresh blood. The tracks have already begun rolling out, starting with The Melvins "Dr. Mule" and JonWayne's "Rap Robbery." Techno luminaries Moodyman and the retro pop stars the Chromatics are among the other artists who will be contributing, and unreleased tracks from the Scion A/V archives will also be showcased.
"The past 10 years have been invigorating to partner with various artists and we're thrilled to showcase a compilation of music that demonstrates the work we've done and what we strive to accomplish," said Scion's sales promotions manager Jeri Yoshizo in a statement announcing the compilation.
