Sportcar Motion, based out of San Marcos, CA, has essentially become the“go to” shop for all things K-series related. Whether it’s a basic swap, bolt-ons, or a full blown race build, SCM has the experience and the know how to make it all possible in rather short order. Beyond the retail and mechanical aspect, Sportcar has been in the trenches for a number of years, regularly running multiple cars in time attack competiton. Along the way they’ve taken home a number of wins, set some well-earned records, and really made a name for themselves on the road course. Now they’ve decided to take a new path during their time attack activities, with plans to simultaneously campaign this K-powered Civic dragcar. The Civic was freshly completed for SEMA and still needs to be tuned before initial shakedown testing, but this is in no way Sportcar Motion’s first time down the 1320. Years ago, before the K-series boom, a 9-second B series Civic EH was unleashed from the SCM garage but as the drag racing front began to slow down considerably on the West Coast and track options diminished, the focus was shifted toward competitive road racing. With this new dragcar, SCM is expecting well over 1,000hp. Tuning will have to be pushed back momentarily due to SEMA week obligations, and of course the stress of Super Lap Battle. Here's a look at the set up:

Engine - K24A4, Golden Eagle sleeves, JE pistons 11.8:1, Manley rods, Custom Web Cams, Supertech valvetrain, Garrett GTX 4294R, Turbosmart wastegates, Turbosmart blow-off valves, AFI center-feed intake manifold, 90mm throttle body, AFI catchcan, K-Tuned fuel rail, Grams 2,200 injectors, Hondata K-Pro, Hondata TCS, PPG dogbox by Gearspeed

Exterior - Red/black camo vinyl wrap, Sportcar Motion front bumper, Golden Eagle bumper diffuser, Exospeed Star 8 wheels, MT 24.5 slicks, Carbon fiber wing, Carbon fiber hatch

Interior - World Racing roll cage, Sparco Corsa seats, Sparco harnesses/hans device, Godspeed handbrake

You shouldn't judge a book by its cover—but when the cover looks this good, and underneath is a big honkin' V8, maybe prejudging ain't such a bad thing.
