Last year I made the comment "Looking good isn't important; it's everything" - but now we're at a time when simplicity has made its way back into the spotlight, and not for reasons that lead straight to the dollar bill y'all. It's cyclical when you think about how our scene has been and the way we style our cars. One year it's loud body kits - then it's simple JDM fashion. Skip ahead and cars are sporting heavy time attack-inspired graphics; now we're back to the essential basics. I haven't seen more non-aero'ed out cars than I did in 2009; just clean paint jobs, wheel offsets that almost seem to get more aggressive by the minute... which reminds me, I need to slam my EF a lot more and get my fenders rolled. Offroading isn't a good look for me. I imagine 2010 will continue to carry on a clean look; what do you think?
Honda Back At It
Seems the OEMs are leaning towards our way again to spice up their commercials. A few months ago, Subaru highlighted its Legacy in a recent 'AWD For Life' promo (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=n19vNQ6pJ3E) with a grip of fixed-up Subes and I thought it was one of the best commercials I'd seen in some time that didn't completely exploit our scene. Now, Honda is using its firepower with its core enthusiasts in the hopes of producing a commercial with equal effect, to help promote the latest model Civic. You'll see a few behind-the-scenes photos we took from the filming elsewhere in the mag, and while we haven't seen the final cut, we do know it's going to be funny.
Cool giveaways are back, gang - this time we are working with G-Shock to hook one of you lucky readers up with a watch of your very own! The rules are simple and you must follow them to win. For all the details, flip to the 'Happy Ending' at the end of this mag to see how you can enter. This promotion runs until 3/1/2010 with one person to be selected at random. Get on it!
