Torrential rains failed to melt Supras at SP Engineering Supra Appreciation Day. In the midst of historic weather where flash floods, mud slides and overall ugliness were the order of the day 82 pristine Supras literally weathered the storm and convened at SP Engineering to pay homage to the performance icon.
As the day grew longer, the weather got better and better, kind of like the Supras at the event. Beyond an eyeful of Supra hotness, one of the highlights of the day was a dyno demonstration by the twin-turbo Lamborghini LP 640 owned by SP Engineering's Alex Shen. The car was still being tuned, so no max power runs were made. That said, 700 whp at a measly 4 psi is nothing to sneeze at.
A raffle featuring carbon-fiber gifts, such as a TiTek gauge pod, cooling plate and Kansai-style lip spoiler was also a hit with attendees.
SP wants to thank the owners of the display cars, Chip Schwartz, Preston Ebert, Louie Altobelli, Ju-Hon Chan, Arseto Wijaya, Mario Acevedo, James Ozuf and Steve Wilson and all those who rolled in under trying circumstances to honor the Supra and SP Engineering. - EG
