The WRX STI tS is based on a four-door STI but features unique enhancement of the car's exterior with a carbon fiber roof and aluminum hood, as well as interior and chassis updates. A rarity with only 400 units slated for production, the Japan-only tS sports a 308-horsepower, 2.0-liter turbo boxer powerplant and a six-speed manual gearbox. The tS features special rear suspension links, strut tower bars, custom STI-tweaked dampers and coil springs as well as bushing and other chassis tricks taken from the R205 model released in 2010. To put it in Japan-speak we offer this tidbit fresh from the Subaru Tecnica International press release: "The tS has been designed to provide drivers with "feeling of superior handling" under the concept common to all the STI complete cars "Sport, Always!" which means "interacting with the car is always like playing sports, at anytime and on any roads you drive."" Other hot commodities include a front spoiler, newly designed STI 18-inch alloy wheels, custom sill plates with the "tS" logo, special tS front and rear badging, special "tS" logo steering wheel and a push button engine start feature. The M/T model is equipped with ball bearing turbocharger. - EG
