Hyundai got us plenty excited with their Veloster concepts and RM500 Genesis at the 2011 SEMA Show. But what really caught our attention was when Hyundai Motor America CEO, John Krafcik announced that the Veloster would come to the showrooms this year in a new Turbo version—albeit, this was a simple reminder after posting the news on Twitter shortly before the press conference.
The Turbo Veloster will receive Hyundai’s new 1.6L T-GDI setup, a turbocharged (duh) direct injection engine that produces 208hp. While pricing hasn’t been announced as of press time, we hope it won’t stray too far from the base model. Hyundai also says their next update to the turbocharged Genesis Coupe rhymes with “more horsepower”, which is always great news to us. Not one, but two turbocharged cars from an OE? Yes, please.
