Subaru VIZIV Performance STI Concept Previews the Next STI

Debuts at Tokyo Auto Salon

This year, the Tokyo Auto Salon begins January 12, and we should have coverage any moment now. As we wait for our freelancers' dispatches from Japan, though, we know that Subaru at least plans to have a booth at the show featuring the concept you see above: the VIZIV Performance STI Concept.

While we only have one angle, it's clear the STI Concept is an evolution of the VIZIV Performance Concept we saw at the Tokyo Motor Show back in October. The front end is more aggressive, featuring new intakes and more aggressive headlights, as well as what looks to be more-flared fenders and, of course, a large wing. Sadly, Subaru hasn't given any extra details about potential powertrains, performance, etc.

From what we saw with the VIZIV Performance Concept and the changes we can see here, it looks like the VIZIV Performance STI Concept will be seriously cool. Unfortunately, Subaru doesn't have the best record of turning concepts into production vehicles without watering down the design. Based on how the 2010 Subaru Impreza Design Concept changed, it's a safe bet that the production versions of these VIZIV Performance Concepts will look quite a bit more restrained than they do now.

Hopefully, we'll find out more when the VIZIV Performance STI Concept makes its official debut.
