The countdown continues to the 2015 SEMA Show, November 3 to 6 in Las Vegas, Nev., and among the previews emerging in the run-up to the trade show is Toyo Tires’. They’ve got a pretty good-sized footprint for 2015, with a booth inside the Las Vegas Convention Center’s South Hall, another outside the same auditorium, and Toyo’s so-called Treadpass connecting the South and Central Halls. Together they’ll feature more than 30 cars and trucks, including several making their world debut.
The main booth in the South Hall will display three vehicles making their global debuts, Bulletproof Automotive’s BMW Z4 GT Continuum, Misha Designs’ limited edition Ferrari 458 Italia Wide Body, and Wald’s Rolls Royce Wraith Black Bison Edition. All are special, but the Bulletproof Z4 really resonates with us – radically modified to reflect the aesthetics of open cockpit cars found in the era of vintage motorsport. Tires for this racing-inspired car are Toyo Proxes R888 DOT competition tires.
Misha’s 458 Italia rocks their Limited Edition body kit, which includes a three-inch wider track at the rear thanks to aggressively flared arches. Its large rear wing is a nod to the LaFerrari FXX K, and the Ferrari is also outfitted in brand new Savini’s “Forged Step Lip” concave wheel technology. Filling the wide fenders is a set of Toyo Proxes 4 Plus all-season UHP tires.
Wald International from Japan is premiering its Rolls Royce Wraith Black Bison Edition, a stylish but sedate baller-mobile sporting a newly designed front bumper, side skirts, rear lip, trunk wing, and sport exhaust. A lowering module provides the correct stance, while the Rolls is equipped with B11C wheels shod in Toyo Proxes STII tires.
Toyo’s Treadpass will host some 30 vehicles, a “Recharge Lounge,” and Toyo Girls signing posters in the midway between the Central and South Halls. Among the cars will be Dominic Le’s insane 1974 Datsun Sunny Ute, a pickup that blends a custom dry carbon fiber Hakosuka (Nissan Skyline) conversion front end by 09 Racing Japan, custom rear flares, and a carbon fiber bed. Under hood is a SR20DET mill that sends power through a Nismo 3.9:1 LSD, and at all four corners are 15-inch Volk TE37 rims wrapped in Toyo Proxes R888 rubber. Just a few of the interior mods include a custom Hakosuka dash and center console and vintage Autolook racing seats.
Elsewhere in Treadpass you’ll find the debut of Project FFR Cobra Jet Challenge and UFC fighter Dan Henderson’s 1973 International Scout, and Toyo tires will be featured on vehicles beyond its booths with exhibitors like Ford, Honda, Hyundai, Mackin, Vortech, and others. We’ve already seen what Hyundai is bringing to the party – ARK Performance’s Solus Genesis Coupe, Blood Type Racing Hyundai Veloster Turbo R-Spec, Bisimoto’s Brute Ute Tucson, and John Pangilinan’s Adventuremobile Tucson – and you can bet more teases are coming in the days ahead.
