Watch a BMW Driver Attempt to Pass and Fail Miserably

Patience really is a virtue

BMW drivers have a bad rep for being real jerks behind the wheel, and videos like this don't help the stereotype much. In Albany, N.Y., an impatient BMW 3 Series driver attempted to pass another car and failed royally, and it was all caught on dash cam.

The footage begins at an intersection. The camera car slows to allow a school bus to turn right and is promptly honked at from behind, presumably by the BMW shown in the rearview camera. The bus begins to make its turn and we hear an even longer honk followed by what sounds like someone shouting "go." As the bus and camera car get ready to make the left turn onto the onramp, the late-model 3 Series driver makes the last-second decision to attempt to overtake the car in front. He accelerates but can't make the pass in time. With no runoff, the BMW plows through a large traffic cone and rides its passenger-side tires up the barrier, beaching itself.

The driver gets out looking embarrassed and says he thought there were two lanes. Whether that's true or not, we may never know, but he ducked out of the turn lane and turned from a section of road he wasn't supposed to. Hopefully this incident teaches him the value of patience.
