It's All About Me - Hole Shot

Editor's Letter

If this copy of Super Street seems a little less manbooby, a couple notches down on the angry meter and not nearly as saturated with kimchee as it used to be, it's because three of our most beloved staff members have packed their bags for bigger and better things. Rikdaddy and Carter, who are still under the Source Interlink umbrella (yes, we've finally ditched the Primedia name!), are both on their own respective titles, with Ricky heading up Project Car and Carter doubling up duties for both Import Tuner as a feature editor and as Siphon's new editor-but don't think they're down and out for good; they'll be contributing regularly, so it'll feel as if they had never left. But, do us a major solid by picking up copies of all these titles; they've worked hard to produce content that complements Super Street in a variety of ways, especially if you're a beginning tuner or a B-spec head. Nadsy has gone the way of editors past and left the nest for good, venturing out into the world of online. We wish all of these guys the best as they do their thing and push the scene to heights we can only expect will be that much more awesome.

With that said, I'm proud to say that I'm excited to be the new editor of Super Street. Every person who had the job before me has left a wonderful mark on the industry and really shaped the book to become what it is today-and it's been a privilege to have worked for them all. I remember the very first time I picked up a copy of this magazine; it felt so much like the domestic titles coming from the Petersen group, but I knew there was something more unique about it. It spoke to me and my friends in a way that we could relate to, just as I think it does for many of you today. As we transitioned to become the source for all things Japanese and JDM, we still kept the flavor real and tried not to overstep our boundaries (although we probably did that more often than not). Now that I've served over nine years with Super Street, I'll continue the tradition of showing you the world's fastest and best looking rides, as well as more real world cars that you can aspire to and build with your own hands.

Besides the crazy, sexy features from Japan and points beyond, Super Street has always stood out of the pack for its off-the-wall humor and outlandish lifestyle stories. By no means was I the funniest guy in class, nor will I try to come off as such; I'll leave that to our freelancing Filipino, Roel, who you'll be seeing more of-whether that's a good thing or not, I'm actually scared to find out. We have a few ideas we'll be bouncing around and I think you'll enjoy them. More models? Yeah, they're coming, too. We've even introduced a section called "Up Close and Personal"-it's a monthly department dedicated to highlighting the top racers and drifters in the scene today, so if you've always wanted to get to know the faces behind the wheels, this is your spot. Our drivers want you to be able to see them just as you've come out to the events and supported them. Get your favorite driver's photo signed; they'll appreciate it.

So hang tight. We're gonna have ourselves a little bit of fun.

What We've Done This Month
We Got Ourselves A White Boy
I'd like for all of you to give a warm Super Street welcome to our latest new fish (we've retired FNG), Justin Kaehler. Justin comes from an online background and is apparently the first white guy to serve as a regular cast member since Joe Kissel (actually, the last one was Russell Brock); why, they even share the same initials. Looks like I finally have a token white guy again.
