When asm says 'go ahead, take it for a spin' - who are we to say no? Roaming around different parts of the world to cover stories on all things automotive always has its perks. Being able to test drive the actual cars ranks right up on top, next to the free food, booze and a constant supply of women who throw themselves at us for a night of unadulterated pleasure. On this year's voyage to Japan, we found ourselves in Yokohama City for a few hours to cover ASM's latest time attack S2000 (featured in our May issue), but while we were there, the shop's manager, Shinichiro Kanayama, gave us an offer we couldn't refuse: take 'Car No.3', a more mildly-tuned S2000, out fora test drive.

Naturally, we said 'yes' and I tossed the keys over to Tetsu since he's less likely to run into problems while driving on the wrong side of the road (and I needed to photograph the experience anyway). The obvious mildly modified exterior tells you that this is a far cry from its two time attack brothers, but nonetheless it's still a very capable street tuned car, running a TODA-prepped F20C and a host of ASM's aero and suspension components. In all truthfulness, this is more likely the car you'd be building for yourself and best of all, it's still fun to drive.

What did Tetsu think? "When I started to drive ASM S2000 street version on the street, I thought this S2K was stock. I mean it's that easy to drive. But I also thought ASM's S2K street version was a higher performance tuning car when I drove it on highway. The response of gas and brake pedal is very good. I drove ASM S2K on uneven street a few times but I didn't feel any bad feeling. ASM coilover setup is soft but not too soft; I think I can drive from my house to the race track and can go racing without changing the damper settings at the race track before I drive or go home. I think anybody can drive ASM S2K street version because it is easy to drive."

From my perspective, it's a no-frills, "it is what it is" type of build. It sounds nice as it cruises around town and you can easily tell it'll get up and go when you command it to. The ASM aero is particularly choice and will easily give your S2K a fighting time attack spirit even if it won't be setting lap times at Tsukuba or Buttonwillow. If Tetsu can attest to its easy feel, then for sure you will.

Putting down the first few sentences of a feature like this 1987 Honda CRX Si is a little tougher than usual. It’s not the familiar story of picking up an old, used Honda, adding wheels and a drop before giving in and going all out on a full-blown build. Furthermore, to be clear, it’s also

It’s safe to say that Angel Pena, owner of this supercharged 2008 Acura TSX, has a “type.” Having been enamored with Acura’s entry-level sedan ever since it was first introduced, he knew right away he’d get his hands on one, and eventually, he did just that. Today, a decade later, he’s moved on to his
