Get Off In Two Pages
On a recent trip to the dirty south I decided to venture deep into the heart of Alabama and engulf myself in local traditions. Although much of my experience was on-par with my expectations, there was one thing that Lynyrd Skynyrd and Forrest Gump hadn't prepared me for... modified imports, and nice ones at that. On roads that can only be described as un-navigable you can find some amazing cars like David Nelms' K-swapped DC2.
Less than seven months ago, there was very little to talk about going on with this red Integra. With the help of some friends to point him in the right direction, David set about the change to this GS-R. The engine came from his friend Chase McMaster who removed it from his ex-Honda Tuning cover CRX. After the K20 was wrestled into the bay, it was locked down with some Hybrid Racing mounts and wired up by a Chase Bays Mil-Spec engine harness.
The car is still a work-in-progress, but you can't deny it looks amazing. With five-lug CPRs and a Mugen first gen wing, the exterior would already be difficult to improve on. Inside the office is a pair of Bride seats and very little else, perfect for when the car "just feels like runnin.'" We will continue to scour every corner of the country in 2011 to make sure we're getting the best from the tuning scene. We're sure there are more diamonds in the rough just like David's.
