The Special Edition Evo IX featured MR additions and some custom touches for a nifty price. This combo was so good Mitsubishi is hitting the re-boot button for the Evo X. Improvements over the GSR model include the MR's Twin-Clutch Sportronic Shift Transmission (TC-SST), two-piece Brembo front brake rotors, Xenon HID headlamps, the MR suspension featuring Bilstein shocks and Eibach coil springs, a unique rear spoiler and cool SE badging. Inside, a pair of heated Recaro buckets await.

The SE sports the same full-tilt-boogie 291-horse 4B11 engine and acronym-laden Super-All Wheel Control (S-AWC) dynamic handling system. S-AWC dishes power at each wheel by controlling a network of advanced dynamic handling technologies straight from the Matrix trilogy, namely Active Center Differential (ACD) 4-wheel-drive, Active Yaw Control (AYC) rear differential, Active Stability Control (ASC) and sport AB+S brakes.

Getting your groove on SE style will cost $36,445, which calculates to a $5,000 savings versus an MR but a $2,000 premium compared to a GSR, and worth every penny in our book.
