Mugen’s Magic Transforms Honda’s CR-Z - Intel

Eco tuning is big in Japan and the CR-Z is currently the golden child of the scene. Mugen is a legend when it comes to Hondas and after much anticipation its masterfully modified CR-Z has moved from renderings to three dimensions in the form of a fully-functional prototype. The big player is a supercharger package that bumps combined gasoline/electric output from 125 horsepower to a respectable 198 horsepower. In Eco mode, Mugen reports 42 mpg while that number drops to 25 mpg when set in ‘sport’ mode. Beyond the blower, the CR-Z is dressed to the nines with an aggressive body tuning kit, carbon-fiber hood, a rear spoiler and trick 17-inch rollers. Footwork consists of adjustable shocks and a big brake upgrade. The company reports this is just an exercise and there are no plans for production but the car seems too well-sorted not to have some type of future. We think it is at least a rolling showcase for future Mugen parts. Now if we can only convince Mugen to send of those goodies to the U.S.
