While seeing the Toyota 86 isn’t groundbreaking news, what we found at the HKS tent outside at the drift exhibition course was this new 86 drift car, built exclusively by HKS for none other than No One Better, Nobuteru Taniguchi. Dressed in classic HKS livery, the car has us excited for the future of tuning and drifting all in one sexy package. The exterior was re-wrapped entirely in carbon fiber and made ready for basic drift action with HKS coilovers, Endless brakes, ADVAN RG-D wheels and ADVAN Neova AD08 tires. The interior is gutted, of course, with Bride buckets and a Nardi steering wheel left for Taniguchi’s liking. Its still in development, though, so you won’t see this ready for action until the drift season gets under way, so for now the engine is all stock. HKS intends on fully building the engine and boosting it with supercharged power. We’re happy to see so many Japanese companies like HKS and GReddy embracing the 86/FR-S as the future of our industry, and you should, too. Now let’s wait and see how well they’ll do at the track…
