As we reported here in Intel in the April 2012 issue, Mazda, Honda and the SCCA have been spearheading the creation of a spec series for B-segment brawlers. Well, the rules for the showroom-stock series are set and Ford has thrown its hat in the ring by announcing a lineup of approved performance parts through Ford Racing. Designed for 2011 and 2012 Fiesta hatchbacks, the lineup includes a coilover suspension, K&N air filter, special ABS brake module, stainless brake lines, a short-throw shifter and a tow hook (hopefully you’ll never need to use that last one). Along with the Chevy Sonic there are four platforms approved for battle. The Ford Racing B-Spec kit will make the Fiesta eligible to compete in SCCA B-Spec series and a similar B-Spec series sanctioned by Grand Am and Ford racing puts the cost at around $25,000 which includes a brand-spanking new Ford Fiesta.
