Toyota’s tuning tag-team tuning partner Gazoo Racing has gone wild on the GT86, the JDM version of our FR-S and BRZ. In this case wild means compound forced induction; the addition of both a supercharger and a turbocharger. The premise of compound forced induction is to get the low-end response of a supercharger (usually a roots style system) and the high-end, big-boost performance of a turbo. Gazoo’s mad scientists pushed output from 200 horsepower to 320 and more than doubled torque taking the 2.0-liter Subaru-sourced Boxer from 151 lbs-ft to 310 lbs-ft. The car is called the Sports FR concept and it also sports a widebody aero kit and 18-inch rollers. Where can we sign up for hot laps?
