Lexus plans to burn fuel and plenty of it as its Pikes entry, the IS F CCS-R, races into the clouds. The IS F’s 416-horse V8 gets a custom exhaust system for power and oil and tranny coolers for added reliability. Inside, the luxury has been wrung out of the Lexus as all the leather trimmings and lavish accents have been pulled out and replaced with a lightweight dash and door panels, composite windows, a lone racing seat, a rollcage and racing harness. Outside, a carbon-fiber hood takes some weight out of the equation and all totaled the IS F tips the scales at 3,078 pounds, about 700 pounds under its stock curb weight. Underneath, race tuned suspension bits and competition brakes conspire to speed the Lexus’ ascent.
